Motion Sensor

The Roost Motion Sensor’s primary function is to detect motion when a person crosses the path of the infrared sensor. The sensor detects movement up to 18 feet away and in an arc 45° to the left and right. Upon movement detection, while in an armed mode (Away or Home), an alarm is triggered, and a notification is sent to the user’s mobile phone for potential escalation to the 24/7 professional monitoring center for police dispatch. During unarmed mode, when the motion sensor first detects motion, a red LED blinks to visually provide confirmation.

Activity/Function:

Motion detection-Armed mode
When the system is armed:

Away mode

When motion is detected, the entry delay will trigger and then the alarm will sound. This alarm trigger will initiate the entry delay and an immediate push/SMS notification to the primary account user. If the alarm is not disarmed, the escalation process to all emergency contacts receiving SMS, then operator call will be escalated with opportunities to respond or verify the action.  Note – the Motion sensor is not armed by default in the Home mode, although the user can include the Motion sensor by enabling it in the mobile app.

Motion detection – unarmed mode
When initial motion is first detected, the red LED located in the sensor will blink once. Once motion is first detected, there is a two minute delay before the next motion event can be detected.
This alarm trigger will initiate the entry delay and an immediate push/SMS notification to the primary account user. If the alarm is not disarmed, the escalation process to all emergency contacts receiving SMS, then the auto call will be escalated with opportunities to respond or verify the action.

Placement: Install the motion sensor on a wall appx 6-8 ft. above the floor with the included mounting plate.  This can be attached with the double-sided tape or with the 2 screws that are included
Proper connectivity of the motion sensor can be verified with motion detection triggering the red LED on the sensor to blink. The sensor detects movement from 6-18 feet away and in an arc 45° to the left and right.
