As part of the Roost Security360 Service, the Roost Entry Sensor’s primary function is to alert the user to the opening and closing of sensor monitored doors or windows throughout the home. When an entry is opened during an armed state, the entry delay period (45 seconds by default) begins with a warning sound from the SmartBase and a push notification to the user.  If the alarm is not disarmed, it will trigger a siren from the SmartBase as well as escalation to the 24/7 monitoring center for emergency contact verification via SMS, operator call, and eventual police dispatch. During an unarmed mode, when a sensor entry point is opened, an optional chime is emitted from the SmartBase to provide notification to the user.

Activity/Function:

Intrusion alarm
When the system is in armed mode (Home or Away) and the door/window entry sensor detects an open condition, the alarm will trigger.
The alarm will initiate the 45 second (default) entry delay period with a warning tone as well as an immediate push/SMS notification to the primary account user. If the alarm is not disarmed, it will trigger an alarm sound from SmartBase and escalation process to all emergency contacts receiving SMS, then operator call with opportunities to verify action or dispatch police.

Unarmed state
During unarmed state, if the door or window is opened, the sensor will blink red and emit an audible chime to inform you that the sensor has been activated.  This is a beneficial feature to let you know when someone has arrived or left your home.
This chime feature can be disabled through the mobile app by tapping on the entry sensor and selecting “alert settings”.

Door By-Pass (Snooze)
When the system is Armed in Home mode, the button on the door entry sensor can be pushed to pause the alarm for 20 seconds. This will allow you to open the door and close it before the alarm sounds without having to disarm the whole system.  This is a useful feature when letting out the dog without having to fully disarm the Home mode.
Sensor LED will turn green for the duration of this period.  At the end of this period, Armed-Home mode will be re-activated

Placement: Install the 2 sensor components on the door or window. Ideally, the larger sensor is located on the fixed door/window frame with the rounded end on top. The smaller magnet sensor is positioned near the bottom of the larger sensor and placed on the moving window/door. The gap between each sensor should be < 5/8” (15mm) with the flat side of the small sensor towards the larger sensor.
Proper connectivity of the sensor pair is verified with the open/close movement captured by a visible red LED blink and the chime tone from the SmartBase emitting as the door/window is opened.  Each sensor pair is marked with two parallel “alignment marks” to assist in positioning. Sensor marks on each sensor should be positioned opposite to each other.

Large door window/door frame situations
For homes that have large or higher frames around windows and doors, please see photos on page 15 for assistance with installation tips.
Position the larger sensor on the moving door or window (vs frame).  Install the small magnet sensor on the frame angled towards the larger sensor alignment marks.
Add 1-2 pieces of the included foam tape underneath the larger sensor on the door/window to move the alignment marks closer to each other to ensure connection.
